Very cool dozer blades. They look great!
I’m not sure whether it’s the lighting in the photos but the highlights on the black look extremely subtle - almost too hard to see.
Was the weathering done with a bit of sponge by any chance? I’ve seen a similar effect produced by someone on a 28mm armoured mini where they used scraps of blister sponge to dab chips onto the mini. I forget where I saw it now otherwise I’d include a link.
Thanks for the comments -
- I’m not sure what the obsession gamers have with highlighting black is about - black absorbs light and rarely “shows its edges”! I used a Codex Grey/Black mix for the edges - more than enough for my physics-minded experiences!
- the dozer blades were done with the “hair spray and sand” method. I must have bought extra-hold hair spray as it does not wash off as easily as the FW book would have your believe. It is rather a cool technique, but does require some patience; I probably spent about 2 hours just on the dozers…
Looks good!
I’m painting at a frantic pace as well. There was a bit of miscommunication with my team and I’m now repainting a lot of my army. At least we’ll all match colors and have the same basing. Still annoying, though
We’re going to be staying Sunday night as well and leaving Monday morning. I was wondering if your group were doing something similar so we might get a game in after the Sunday tournament? Or at least dinner?
I hope all is going well!
Casey
Hi Casey.
Well we lost on of our team players so we *may* be out of that (looking for a ringer right now!).
I now have to leave Monday AM for a meeting back in Vancouver, so anything on Sunday night will have to be t(l)ame! But I’m sure we will be up for something.
If you need a filler, and have the models to loan, I know of some chill guys I can vouch for that were thinking of going and would like the chance. Just shoot me an email at caseycampbell at gmail dot come if you need me to look around for you.
